Privacy Policy
How the Office of the Controller General of Defence Accounts collects, uses, and safeguards information through this website.
Scope of this policy
This privacy policy applies to the website of the Controller General of Defence Accounts at the cgda.gov.in domain and any successor domain notified by the Department. The policy covers information that this website collects from visitors and how that information is handled. The policy does not cover any external website that is linked to from this site; visitors are advised to read the privacy statement of any external site before sharing information with it.
Information collected automatically
When a visitor uses this website, the web server records standard technical information for security and statistical purposes. The information recorded includes the visitor's Internet Protocol address, the date and time of visit, the pages visited, the referring page, and the type of browser and operating system used. This information is used in aggregate form to monitor site performance and to detect attempts at unauthorised use. It is not used to identify individual visitors except where required by law or in connection with the investigation of a security incident.
Information provided voluntarily
This website provides forms through which visitors may voluntarily share information. Forms in current use include:
- The office data submission form, used by Controllers and IFAs to submit details of their offices for inclusion in the website
- The feedback form, through which visitors may share suggestions or report issues
- The grievance redress channel, which routes visitors to the central public grievance portal at pgportal.gov.in
Information shared through these forms — names, designations, telephone numbers, email addresses, and any text or attachments included by the visitor — is used only for the purpose for which it was submitted. The Department does not sell, rent, or share this information with any third party except where disclosure is required by law, or in connection with the routing of grievances to the appropriate authority.
Cookies and local browser storage
This website does not use tracking cookies. The site uses local browser storage to remember visitor preferences such as the chosen accessibility theme and the language toggle setting. Local browser storage is held on the visitor's own device and is not transmitted to the Department's servers.
Retention
Server log information is retained for the period required for security analysis and statistical reporting, after which it is archived or deleted in accordance with departmental records management policy. Information submitted through forms is retained for as long as it is required for the purpose for which it was submitted, and thereafter handled in accordance with departmental records management policy.
Security
The website is hosted on infrastructure provided by the National Informatics Centre, which maintains physical, technical, and administrative safeguards against unauthorised access. Forms that collect personal information are transmitted over secure channels. Access to information submitted through the office data submission form is limited to authorised personnel of the Department and is governed by departmental confidentiality norms.
Children's privacy
This website is intended for the general public and does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of eighteen. Any information that is found to have been submitted by a minor without parental consent will be deleted on request.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in the website's functionality or in legal requirements. The current version of the policy will always be available at this URL, and the date of last revision is shown at the foot of this page.

For any query relating to this policy, or to request access to or correction of information that has been submitted through this website, visitors may contact the Public Grievance Officer at the Office of the Controller General of Defence Accounts.
